Teaching Artist – Music, Strings and Band. (Talent Pool)

Location: Queens County, NY (some areas have limited public transit)

Salary: $60–$90/hr | W-2 | Paid PD + Retention Bonus

About the role
MML blends arts-based strategies with numeracy & literacy to boost achievement. We’re forming a candidate roster for Queens County. Talent-pool status: interviews may occur now; formal offers/schedules follow grant award notice.

Pay & Schedule

• $60–$90/hour (W-2, hourly, non-exempt)
• 1–5 days/week; classes may start 10:00 AM; most hours 2:30–6:00 PM
• Paid PD at the same hourly rate; retention bonus eligibility (details in offer)

What you’ll do

• Lead small-group and whole with conservatory-style lessons in violin, viola, or cello with a curriculum linked to math and literacy concepts.
• Use quick checks for understanding; track attendance; submit brief notes
• Co-plan with Music TAs; foster warm, consistent classroom culture

What you bring

• Early-career welcome: 0–1 year teaching/tutoring is OK—training & coaching provided
• Comfort with data-informed instruction and SEL-aligned routines. Training will be offered.
• Reliable travel in Queens; car/driver’s license a plus(not all sites count with a subway station at walking distance).

Training, Compliance & Ongoing Requirements

• Third-party background check after conditional offer
• NYC DOE clearance & fingerprinting for school sites.
• Work authorization in the U.S. required at time of hire
• NYSED workshops: Child Abuse Identification, SAVE, and DASA — before start or within 30 days (approved fees reimbursed)
• Ongoing: Additional trainings/certifications may be required on a continuing basis to comply with company policy and all applicable NYSED and NYC regulations (we provide access and guidance)
